Your Espresso Map to The Best Coffee Shops in St. Cloud, MN

While St Cloud, MN is best known for its scenic beauty and proximity to the Mississippi River, the city is quietly growing a reputation for excellent coffee spots. If you're looking to break free from repetitive coffee chains, St Cloud is the city for you. Indeed, locals celebrate independent roasters and cafes. Here at Upper Town Apartments, one of St. Clouds premier living communities, we are big fans of the St. Cloud coffee scene and want to share our favorites with locals and visitors alike. With that in mind, here is our list of top six coffee shops in St. Cloud, MN.

Kinder Coffee Lab

Kinder Coffee Lab was started by a group of friends who shared the same passion for excellent coffee. Originally, they started the company to only sell roasted coffee beans. But as their reputation for excellent coffee grew, they opened two locations in the Greater Twin Cities area, including a St. Cloud location.

Coffee aficionados can easily taste the superiority at Kinder Coffee Labs. The owners pride themselves on using single-source beans and are quite selective about how the roasting is done. While the normal drip coffee is excellent, Kinder Coffee Lab has perfected the art of handcrafted coffee and espresso drinks with unique flavors. Additionally, Kinder Coffee Lab has a tea selection and light breakfast snacks, making it a full-service location for your morning routine.

District Coffee

Located on the south end of town, District Coffee is all about providing a fun coffeehouse atmosphere. The owners have maliciously designed a cozy and comfortable interior, making it a great place to sip on a latte while reading the morning news. While the coffee is amazing, so are the pastries. District Coffee has partnered with Chef Erin Lucas of Flour & Flower to serve deliciously unique pastries. The pastry rotation changes frequently, so you are sure to find something new and exciting options with each visit. This coffee house also has a full breakfast and lunch menu, with the crepes and paninis being of particular note.

Jules' Bistro

While technically a bistro and not a coffee house, the espresso specialty menu at Jules Bistro is so good that we think it's worth a mention. This bistro has some truly unique espresso specialty selections, like the Pistachio Mint Mocha and Sugar Cookie Latte. For the truly adventurous, there is even a coconut red curry late. If you crave a sweet and unique latte experience, Jule's Bistro is for you. For the traditionalist, the standard drip coffee and Americanos are also excellent.

Beyond the espresso and coffee, Jule's is also a great place to grab a meal. Nearly everything is made from scratch and is fully loaded with delicious flavor. The "loaded pb & j crepes" are a fan favorite.

Second Street Coffee House

With a location in neighboring Sartell, Second Street Coffee House is worth the drive for passionate coffee aficionados or for a fun date day. Founder Meghan Kelsey wanted to create a coffeehouse that provided a community experience, and with that ambition, Second Street Coffeehouse was born. Guests are welcome to stay and lounge about, play board games, or catch up on some reading. Second Street routinely hosts community events, making it a great place to meet new people.

The coffee is also fantastic, and coffee tasting flights are offered for those who want to expand their palate.

Copper Pony

For a more unique cafe experience, we recommend Copper Pony. While primarily known as a gift store with unique novelties, Copper Pony also has an adjoining cafe where patrons can enjoy a high-quality coffee with a sandwich. This "shop-and-sip" concept is a big hit with locals and is a common destination when entertaining out-of-town guests. Copper Pony is an excellent place to browse unique gift items that are perfectly curated in a quirky store environment. This is the ideal place to go for a lazy afternoon, and with its downtown location, it is a great spot to stop by after window shopping.

Boho Cafe at Art in Motion

While located in Holdingford, Boho Cafe at Art in Motion is worth a stop on your way to the great outdoors. Located along the Lake Wagon Trail, this is the perfect place to get a caffeine fix before a fun day out in nature. Yet, this is more than just a coffee house. Boho Cafe is located inside Art in Motion, a boutique art gallery. The art gallery features both local and international artworks, making it a great place to explore your creative side.
